DERMAL ANCHORS

Dermal anchoring is a technique that is essentially a single-point pocketing. It gives the appearance of a small single bead on the skin, similar to a transdermal implant, but with a much simpler procedure.

The relative small size of the jewellery allows placement almost anywhere on the body, although aftercare is the responsibility of the customer, as with surface piercing, on areas of high movement or places that get knocked.

A single hole is made with a small dermal punch to allow for jewellery insertion.

JEWELLERY

The portion of the jewellery which sits beneath the skin has a number of holes to allow tissue to grow through, anchoring the jewellery in place. This type of jewellery is made of titanium rather than any type of steel as this piercing requires hypo-allergenic jewellery, conforming to local authority byelaws.

DERMAL PUNCH

Clients have reported less procedural pain and reduced healing times. However, this technique doesn't remove all the risks and problems with viability of surface piercings; surface piercings are still difficult to heal, and the placement needs to be chosen carefully and all aftercare is the responsibility of the customer.
